A mining company in Hebei Province invested CNY 300 million in the construction of dry magnetic separation process for iron ore processing. The original process directly discarded the tailings as waste.
However, due to the continuous increase in the price of aggregates in recent years, users want to screen out stones above 6 mm as products and sell them to stone material factories. This not only brings lucrative economic benefits to the enterprise, but also complies with the national policy of green development concept and reduces the pollution of the local environment from tailings accumulation.
When the tailings are discarded, the vibrating screen needs to be installed at a height of 13 meters, but the original plant was not designed with the installation foundation of the vibrating screen. If the traditional vibrating screen is used, the force conducted by the vibration of the equipment to the plant is much higher than the force it can carry, and the plant will be shaken down. Therefore, the customer hesitates to use the imported vibrating screen with the traditional vibration principle.
After visiting and understanding our GK screen, the customer found that the GK screen could start and stop smoothly without being fixed on the ground, and the vibration to the ground during the operation was very small. It is so advanced that it can completely solve the problem of no installation foundation of vibrating screen in the plant.
So the customer signed a purchase contract with our Company for 2 sets of STM-S3073 GK screens for dry tailings screening and reuse. The stone on the screen is sold to the stone material factory, increasing the income by more than CNY 100,000 per day. The materials under the screen is transported to the tailings dam for stockpiling, reducing the area occupied by the tailings dam.
The next step is to solve the problem of GK screen site installation. The original plant design did not take into account the processing of tailings and only included a 10-ton traveling crane. The STM-S3073 GK screen weighs 25 tons on its own, far exceeding the lifting weight. This required our GK screen to be assembled on site.
The GK sieve consists of two parts, upper and lower mass, which can be disassembled. It can be assembled easily and quickly at the site. According to the site situation of the customer, our Company specially designed and made the foundation steel frame for the customer, and then installed it on the 13m high platform at the site.
The on-site construction was very difficult due to the high altitude operation and time constraints. The location where the GK screen was installed had only a few beams and no floors, leaving “traps” all over the place. This required our installation team to be courageous and careful and to put safety first. The customer only left us a window of one week to complete the complex and critical procedures of installing the foundation steel frame, lifting the screen body, installing the excitation spring and leaf spring, lifting the upper vibration excitation body in a tilted condition, adjusting, correcting, tightening the bolts, etc.
The team worked hard to overcome all difficulties and completed the installation task on time. The GK screen started smoothly with very little noise. The start and stop were very smooth, and the vibration isolation effect during the operation was very satisfactory, solving the difficulties for the customer.
